One of my favorite moments of a wedding is after the ceremony, when all the guests have left the immediate area where vows were exchanged and gather to greet the couple as they "ride off into the sunset" (or, in many cases, dart off to a quiet place to spend the only 5 minutes they'll have alone for the day!)I always enjoy seeing the bride and groom's smiling faces as they emerge, hand-in-hand, ready to greet the world as a married couple. And I really love the individuality of the "getaway vehicle" choice. I've seen couples choose such varied vehicles as a horse-drawn carriage; a tandem bicycle (watch your dress in the spokes, ladies!); or a cream-colored Bentley. And this weekend, we are coordinating a wedding where the bride and groom will be riding away in a golf cart! I think this is an adorable idea and also a great photo opportunity (as this cute couple demonstrates).
No matter which "getaway" method you choose, we at GlamRock recommend that you and your new spouse do try to grab a few minutes to debrief together after your ceremony, whether that's in your getaway car, in a quiet room at your reception site, or outdoors under a shade tree. By that point in the day, you will be ready for a little bit of alone time to laugh away your last lingering jitters and prepare to enjoy your reception.
How about you - what "getaways" are your favorite?
